A slab leak can be a disruptive and expensive plumbing repair. Typically, the first sign of a slab leak is the higher than normal water bills. It’s nearly impossible to see a slab leak, since it’s usually in a pipe buried underground, covered by a 4” slab of concrete.
The first thing you should do if you suspect a slab leak is visit our Leak Detection page for information that’ll help you. Second, you will need to get in touch with the Slab Leak Detection and Repair Experts at Inland Empire Plumbing, as soon as possible! We have specialized electronic leak detection equipment and leak “detectives” who can locate the leak with pinpoint accuracy.
While slab leaks can be quite expensive and disruptive, you can choose to not let it end up that way, simply by calling the Inland Empire Slab Leak Experts. When you hire someone to repair your slab leak, make sure that the plumber has the proper equipment, skills and care that are required to do the job right. They should pinpoint your leak first and foremost, then access and repair the leak, causing as little damage as possible.
Slab leaks can be very serious and damaging to your home, so for your own safety, make sure that you call a bonded, fully insured, licensed plumber, like the ones at Inland Empire Plumbing.
You have to keep an eye out for the witch-doctors of the plumbing industry; these are the guys who show up poorly equipped, carting around a rented jack-hammer (owning your own is too trendy), and an inexperienced “apprentice”. Some of these plumbers still might use a divining rod, which is endearing, BUT if they start dancing with it, call 911. This approach has a hit-or-miss success rate and can cause way more damage to your flooring.
There are many exceptional leak detection companies on the market, but unfortunately, since they aren’t usually licensed plumbers, they can only do half of the job. They will come to your home with all the right equipment and locate your leak. Typically they will leave a large “X” on your floor when they feel that the leak is, and that’s when the plumber comes in.
When the plumber shows up, he breaks through the floor, “X” marks the spot, and with luck, he will dig down to the leak and make the needed repairs.
Now, a good plumber will backfill the hole, patch the concrete floor, haul off the debris, and clean up their mess…but not all plumbers will guarantee that the way we do, at Inland Empire Plumbing.
You will find it hard to find another plumbing and drain professional within the area better equipped to handle your unexpected plumbing emergency. Disregarding the time of day or night, you will always speak with a live home comfort professional on the phone. And we are committed in our effort to respond to each and every repair required within one hour.
